Burger Making with Mr Rankin

We were chefs for the day and we made our own delicious burgers! Mr Rankin gave us orders and we followed his instructions very carefully. We watched him add yeast to water and to make dough. Then we needed to knead the dough by punching it. That was great fun and after we had done that we formed our dough into balls and left them to rise. It was a surprise to come back after lunch and see how our buns had grown in size! Next we went on the making the patty. Some of us didn't eat beef so that had chicken. Mr Rankin showed us how to mince the beef and we added some spices and onions to the mixture. We formed the meat into patties and our hands got really sticky. There was a lot of hand washing going on to make sure our burgers were free of germs. Soon everything was ready to be cooked and the smell of the tasty food cooking made our mouths water! Finally our buns and patties were ready and we were able to tuck into them. Mmmmm... so scrumptious!

Constable Darren Bullent

Constable Darren visited Room 5 today and he taught us for one and a half hours! He was so enteraining and made us laugh so much! We were fascinated by the many things he carries on his uniform so he answered all our questions about them. He even showed us how his handcuffs work and let us test the strength of his body armour plate. Constable Darren taught us the correct vocabulary for our private body parts. He also taught us to keep ourselves safe and that our body is our own and unwanted touches are not okay. We talked about the people we could trust and did some role play to show how we all experience different feelings.
