Just look at us! Today was our Book Character Parade and we dressed up as various characters. It has been Book Week and there have been lots of activities and books to enjoy. Our class walked across the stage and everyone enjoyed seeing their gorgeous outfits. A special day indeed!

Sally Sutton - Author

As part of Book Week Sally Sutton, who lives in our area, came to talk to us about being an author. She has written a variety of books and she told us about them. What an inspiring person she is - we were all so impressed and realise that being an author is something all of us can do!

Reading Time

During Reading time, the children have been learning to type using all their fingers on the keyboard. They are using a website that is helping them to use their different fingers to locate the keys. Ka Pai to the children for persevering in learning this new skill!

Happy Mother's Day

We enjoyed writing about our special Mums and making a card for them.

Good Bye, Dearest Aerys!

Our hearts are sad that our dear buddy, Aerys, has gone back to live in the Philippines. We will miss him very much indeed and hope we can keep in contact with him and his lovely family. Mrs Hill, his lovely Teacher Aide has moved to the middle school so we will still see her, thankfully! She was a ray of sunshine, always encouraging and helping everyone.

Science Experiments

Many of us had seen the Skittles experiment but had not had the opportunity to question the speed at which the colour of the Skittles would dissolve. Firstly we used tap water to admire the beautiful patterns being formed and we noted the speed at which this took place. Then we used warm water with the next lot of Skittles. They dissolved at a noticeably faster rate. We decided to do a second experiment using a glass with hot water and one with water at room temperature. We placed a red coloured block of ice into each glass (these ice blocks had been frozen in a muffin container). The ice block within hot water dissolved much sooner than the one in water at room temperature, just as we had predicted!

Footsteps Dancing Classes

Every Thursday our whole school has a special time to join Jazi who teaches us all the moves to a new song in every lesson. She is an amazing dance teacher and has taught us the elements of dance. These are - energy, spacial awareness, time, body awareness and relationships. We are really great at moviing to the beat and following the different moves. We are all budding dance stars!
