Te Tuhi Art Gallery
It was lovely to go on a trip to Te Tuhi in Pakuranga! That's where the new bridge is being built and lots of changes are happening around it. We had been looking forward to seeing the large sculpture that is just outside the art gallery. It was designed by Michael Parekowhai who remembered the cuisenaire rods he had used at school when they were learning about numbers. His art work had ten different colours. We were excited because we were going into the art studio next to mix and paint. Using the three primary colours, red, yellow and blue, we mixed colours to make purple, green and orange. We filled up a colour wheel with all these colours. Bree, our teacher for the day, then took us into the entrance area where we played some games using special arty bean bags. One of the highlights of our trip was the bus we travelled on - it had been totally decorated with spider webs and other Halloween decorations! Such an exciting day!
