Our End of Year Assembly

Well done to all the fantastic Year 0, 1 and 2 children on their marvellous singing and dancing in the musical items they presented in our final Junior Assembly.  Room 5 and Room 6 performed their song called Pohutukawa Christmas Tree and we are so extremely proud of them.

A Wonderful Day spent at the Auckland Botanic Gardens

After doing lots of learning about plants, their structure, germination, their life cycle and importance, we headed off to enjoy a day at the Auckland Botanic gardens where we were totally immersed in the beauty of this beautifully laid out and well tended garden.  The wonderful variety of plants were there to allure us and we enjoyed using our senses to look closely, to smell, touch, taste and listen.  We saw many bees and butterflies pollinating the flowers and enjoyed a session at the education centre where we used resources to enact the various aspects we had been focussing on.

The Auckland Philharmonia Percussion Ensemble

It was another special treat going down to the hall to watch, listen and enjoy the performance by Eric, Steven and Jennifer from the Auckland Philharmonia.  Mrs Clark kindly organised for them to visit our school. This trio are extremely talented musicians and they demonstrated their talents by using a range of percussion instruments such as a variety of drums and the marimba.  One of the pieces they performed was fascinating and sounded amazing, using just a table, some china bowls and coins!!

Goodbye and Thank You, Mrs Naicker

Sadly for all of us Mrs Naicker has moved on to work with the new entrant children in Room 34.  We had been very fortunate having her with us, helping us in many, many ways.  Mrs Naicker has supported us in our writing groups, she has helped us solve maths problems and given us opportunities to read and discuss our texts.  She always arrives with a happy smile and has encouraging words for each of the children.  It has been a real privilege working with her.  THANK YOU so much indeed, Mrs Naicker!!
