Thinking of All those affected by Sadness in Christchurch

Our hearts have been saddened by all the tragic events in Christchurch. We heard about an opportunity to send paper dolls to Christchurch and so we got to drawing and colouring three symbolic people to show that we all care and we all stand together. These will hopefully be displayed and bring messages of hope, care and love.

Whole School Assembly Item

We enjoyed being able to present our murals to the school during assembly. Harvey and Indi introduced our item and Iris, Ceeza and Tia read parts of their information reports. Well done to everyone - we are so proud of you!!

This is what they read -
We enjoyed making this mural to show frogs in their natural habitat. We worked on it, step by step. Iris, Ceeza and Tia will share some of the frog facts they discovered.

Iris –
Frogs can camouflage themselves really well. Some frogs can be poisonous.  Frogs never close their eyes when they sleep. Frogs don’t like to swim in salty water. They breathe with their skin.
Ceeza –
Female frogs lay eggs and they hatch and become tadpoles. Then they grow back legs and front legs and tails and become froglets. After that they turn into frogs.
Tia -
A frog’s predators are cats, birds and snakes. If the weather is very hot, they can dig a hole in mud, or they can sit under wet leaves. Frogs eat lots of things. They eat little frogs, moths, flies, insects and mice. Frogs can live on land and in water because frogs are amphibians.

Frog Update

There are still a few tadpoles in Room 16 and 10 but both now boast at least one froglet!! They tend to hide on the sides of rocks but we did get a good sighting of them. Soon the froglets will be frogs and they will be jumping about looking for flies and other creepy crawlies to enjoy for their meal.

The Twilight Market

Hooray! We had been looking forward to the Twilight Market for weeks and finally it is here. The weather is just perfect and there are going to be so many exciting things to enjoy! As a 'taster' to the exciting event, Mrs Kneale baked us a most beautiful cupcake with rainbow icing and glittery sugar sparkles. They were so pretty that many of us wanted to keep them to show our families. Thank you so very much, Mrs Keane! Those special treats were delicious and we felt very spoilt by your kindness!

Thanks so much to all our wonderful parents for your many contributions towards this special event. Also, a big THANK YOU to those fantastic parents who helped to cook sausages and assemble all those borewors rolls at the South African food stall. Your help was invaluable!

A Hive of Activity

We got together with our Tuakana from Room 25 in the Hive today. We split ups into two task forces in order to do some practical work. One group managed to remove all the strawberry plants from the hexagonal planter box

Mrs Cutler Teaches Our Class

Mrs Cutler came to demonstrate a great oral language activity which she uses with her ESOL classes and we thought we would also get lots of good practise from it. We had to read, remember and retell the sentences to our writing buddy so that they could complete our written task. The title of the activity is 'running dictation" so we had to deliver the message quickly! Many thanks, indeed, for coming in to teach today, Mrs Cutler.
