Happy Easter and Happy Holidays!!

Our first term is at an end and we've already enjoyed eleven weeks of school! It has been a happy, active, interesting time of getting to make new friends and learning together.

Our last day of term has also been a special one with a popcorn party to celebrate. The Easter Bunny was also very generous and we have a basket full of treats to take home!

Happy Easter, everyone. Have a wonderful holiday!!

Music with Mrs Clark

This term we have been fortunate to attend music lessons with Mrs Clark who gives the children a rich and varied programme. Here they are performing a piece of body percussion together as a class. It is called "Thunderstorm" and the conductor is Dylan.

Bird Riddles by the Senior ESOL Children

We had some visitors this morning who came to share the work they have been doing on birds too. Five of Mrs Kingston's ESOL students read us the riddles they had composed and we were easily able to guess the particular bird they were describing. We enjoy making up riddles about our chunk words too!

Happy Birthday, Point View!

Today we celebrated our school's 20th Anniversary and it was such a lovely day! The sun shone brightly and our assembly was packed with wonderful dancing, singing, speeches and the cutting of a special cake.

At lunchtime we gathered outside to lick the delicious lemonade ice blocks that we were given as part of the celebrations. We also had fun chasing after golden streamers that the ladies from the office had sent rocketing into the sky above us.

After that we played a maths game with raisins as the counters and we ended the day making some wonderful bird art.

OUR STEM DAY (aka Technology Day)

We experienced what it is like being in Mr Rankin's classroom today and it certainly was a STEM kind of a day! STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. Our first exciting experience was to build a Mr Learning with a partner out of Lego. We followed the pictorial instructions and in no time everyone had succeeded in building him.

Our second challenge was to design, make and modify a wheelchair for a Lego man that would roll down a track at speed. Once we had made our version of a wheelchair with a Lego man sitting on it, Mr Rankin held it at the top of a long ramp. The ramp had a built in speedometer and Christopher's design proved to be the fastest. John's was the second fastest and it was such fun trying to improve and make appropriate changes to our designs.

After lunch we again were given such marvellous opportunities to discover how to programme a robot by using computers - Mr Rankin soon had everyone buzzing as they worked out the various codes to instruct the robot on where to go!! Lastly, he showed us how he was able to manoeuvre another robot in all directions.

This was indeed a day filled with heightened learning that ticked the science, technology, maths and engineering boxes in such exciting, practical and enjoyable ways! Many thanks to Mr Rankin and to Alice's mum, Ellie's mum, Kayla's mum, Kyle's mum and Chloe's mum for coming along to help and support us.

Star Author - Benjamin

Benjamin described our trip to the zoo in his story like this -
Amazing Zoo by Benjamin Chong

The meercats were so cute when we went to the zoo! I liked the playful giraffes and the muddy rhinos. I liked the brown, hairy chimpanzees. They are always climbing and they wanted to sit in the sun. Then the tiger was so creepy, he came up to me. I was super scared!

I had an amazing day at the zoo and I loved the slow elephants. One was tying to come up to me. I loved the pink flamingoes. They balance in the soaking water. Then we went to find the others but they weren’t there so we went walking again and they were there! After that we went to the seals and one was so fast like a leopard. Then we went to the little penguins and they were chilling out on some wood.

Our House Picnic

On Friday we all wore mufti in the colours of our school Houses and at lunch time off we went to various areas in the school where we ate together and met our House Captains. We did some cheering for our houses and enjoyed the opportunity to get into the team spirit!

Here we all are in our various House colours.
