Our Classroom Displays

We have been busy on some art projects and have also popped photos up showing ourselves and our families. We also displayed our graphs showing the data we collected.

Music with Mrs Clark

It was our first lesson with Mrs Clark in the Performing Arts Room and we had a wonderful time. Mrs Clark took these photos and explained what the children learned today -

"We were getting to know each other again and learning names. The children learnt a circle chant and discovered quiet, medium and loud sounds. We had a couple of student conductors and then we played a game of hide the banana (like the hot / cold game but using sounds - clicks = quiet, pats = medium, claps = loud) using their knowledge that they had learnt. Then we explored all the different percussion instruments and the ways that we played them (scrape, shake, tap etc.) in preparation for next week when we are going to create a thunderstorm, which happens to be entirely topical at the moment!"

Cartesian Bottle Diver Experiment

We made our bottle experiment in parts this week. Our diver was a squid and it was attached to bent straws. We discovered that air locked within those straws were put under pressure when we squeezed the bottle. This caused the air to become more dense and down went the diver. When the pressure was released, the molecules in the air could spread out so up went the diver.

Digital Learning using Tangrams

On Friday we used the middle block to do some art work as well as to learn to use the Osmo application on iPads. We were so quick to learn how to manipulate the various shapes and enjoyed this opportunity immensely.

Science - Floating and Sinking

We are learning about objects that float and sink and are using vocabulary such as heavy, light, dense, sink, buoyancy.

Mrs Hsu introduced us to these terms and we had such fun testing items for their density and buoyancy.
