Who are Goldie, Flash, Patches and Dottie?

They are new additions to our Room 5 family! Mrs Shewring kept them in her fish pond until last year. Then she then decided that they needed to become class pets and finally she has brought them back to school.

We are intrigued by the new goldfish - the one with the biggest tail and googly eyes is Goldie, the middle sized orange one is Flash and the one with orange and white patchy skin, we have named "Patches". Dottie is the elusive one and is the odd one out. He is nocturnal and is a Bristlenose fish. Throughout the day Dottie stays in the dark helmet and only when it is dark does he come out and feed on the algae or slime in the tank.

Our Lego Challenge

Today we worked together with a buddy to make a Mr Learny out of lego blocks. We needed to follow the instructions on a sheet and use every piece from the packet. It was important that we worked together to solve and build it correctly. Some of us were able to put it together really quickly and these delightful experts went about giving others a hand. after this challenge, the next one was to use only yellow and orange blocks and a pair of eyes to construct a duck. then the children needed to use the left over blocks to make an interesting environment for the duck to enjoy.

It was interesting seeing so many different ducks!

Mr Kirkham Reads A Story

We were extremely interested in hearing the story that Mr Kirkham read to us today. It was titled "Ria, the Reckless Wrybill" and the story tells of a baby chick called Ria who initially ignores her parents when they tell her to freeze if any predators come near. Instead she is ready to do battle with any intruder until one day a dog grabs her! She ends up learning to blend into her environment so that she keeps safe.

We're Back at School - At Last!!

What a special reunion having all the boys and girls back today!! They were thrilled to see each other and had a lovely day!

Week 5 - Our Final Week of Online Learning!

Hooray! We will be going back to school next Monday! It's going to be great seeing our friends again and being back at school. There will be some restrictions and we will need to be careful not to get too close to people. We will need to wash our hands so many times during the day to keep those nasty corona virus bugs away.
