Letters to Joy Cowley

We wrote letters to Joy Cowley after reading one of her big books. Our letters told Joy how much we enjoy her many wonderful stories and we also suggested an alternative ending to one of her stories. We hope she enjoys reading our letters!

Planting Bulbs

It was to be an "Outdoor Classroom" day today and all the classes spent some of their time enjoying our wonderful school grounds. Our class decided to continue with the work we started in the corner of the hive. The swan plants we planted there are looking good so we thought we'd plant a few tulip and daffodil bulbs between them. Then in spring they will make a lovely display while also attracting the butterflies. Our thanks go to Mrs Elbatesh, Mrs Kneale and Mrs Umrigar who so kindly came and lent a hand.

Making Mustard Seed Sandwiches

Making Sandwiches by Eugene Yip

On Friday Room 5 made delicious sandwiches and my buddy Harvey made them with me.  We had fun together. Inside the sandwiches were tomatoes and butter and cheese. After we were all finished we did some mindfulness.

Our sandwiches were a little bit broken but they still tasted great!  I had a fantastic day. That day Ceeza was not here. Harvey was so good at making sandwiches. The sandwiches had mustard leaves on them. The mustard leaves were a little bit burny but they were still delicious. When Harvey and I were cutting the sandwiches it was hard to cut. So that's
why our sandwich got broken.

Mustard Seeds

We planted some mustard seeds today and are keen to see how soon they will germinate. We have also placed some mustard seeds, cress seeds, bean seeds and pea seeds into a clear jar. As they start to germinate, we'll be able to watch the process. That should be very interesting!

Autumn Buddy Fun

We joined our buddy class in the hive and had lots of fun collecting up two containers of leaves. Some of the beautiful maple leaves were quite crunchy underfoot already while some were still quite fresh and soft. Room 5 and 25 have enough leaves to fill a large black rubbish bag each. We are going to place the leaves into the bag and wet them thoroughly. Then we'll tie up the bags, puncture them with holes and place them in the Hive. The leaves will gradually start to decompose and over the next few months they will turn into compost which we'll put back into our gardens.
