Anas' Talk

Anas comes from Egypt and he and Mrs Naicker have been working together to make a chart showing various aspects of his special culture. We all were intrigued to hear about his family and some of his favourite things. Thank you, Anas, for sharing these with us.

Goodbye dear Shirley

We are very sad to bid our friend Shirley farewell. In the four weeks she was here we so enjoyed getting to know her. She settled in to our class so quickly and has been a friendly, sensible, happy and hard working student. Her mum came in on Shirley's last day to give us a talk about their lives in China. Shirley has an older brother and her mum is a lawyer. Her dad is a businessman and they live in a very modern city called Nanning in the south of China. It was fascinating to see the exquisite buildings and bridges, the parks and beautiful river setting. We all wrote lovely messages to Shirley and gave her some gifts to remember us by. We wish Shirley every success and happiness for her future.

Mrs Cole's Old Toys

Thanks to Mrs Cole for bringing some of her old toys to share with us. She showed us how they worked and we had a try too. Toys have certainly become much more advanced since she was a little girl!

Our Special Toys

We thoroughly enjoyed bringing along a toy from home to share with our peers. Our class was transformed into a mini museum as we set them up and wrote labels to go with each toy. After lunch it was time to share some information about our toy and to demonstrate any special features. Amazingly, no two toys were the same!

MOTAT - A Wonderful Trip

As part of our study on TOYS (past and present) we embarked on a school trip to the Museum of Transport and Technology (MOTAT) and we were not disappointed. We were immersed in all the different exhibits and thoroughly enjoyed going on a scavenger hunt among the historic buildings. The tram ride that travelled to the aviation hangar was a delight. We enjoyed views of the park along the way and our friendly tram driver, Albert, was happy for us to disembark at the end of the track while he prepared to move to the other end of the coach in order to make the return journey.

Our education session with Cici was excellent. She introduced us to many old fashioned toys and then allowed us to play with them. We certainly enjoyed that opportunity and agree that it had been a very special visit.

Our Buddies in Room 25

We enjoyed finding out about a man called William Bentley who was the first photographer of snowflakes in the late 1800s. After that we folded paper and cut them into beautiful snowflake shapes - every one was different just as snowflakes are! Look at us - we really enjoyed our time together with our buddy class.
