Mrs Oldham treated us to the story of a Taniwha who took his new friend on a special journey. As part of the story we discussed the idea that treasures or taonga can be all kinds of things. We went into the Hive to look for some natural Taonga. In the afternoon we had time to do some related drama activities and various arts and crafts. Thank you, Mrs Oldham, for treating us to such a wonderful day.

Home Learning
When Cyclone Gabrielle was causing such big wind and rain, we were not able to go to school. During our two days spent at home some children sent photos of the activities they were doing. Here are some photos -

Paper Bag Sharing
We all really enjoyed seeing the special things everyone brought to show us. The children carefully unpacked their bags and explained something about their items. It was good getting to know about their favourite toys, books, activities and seeing their prized photos. Thank you, parents, for helping with these.

Held Together by Heartstrings
We shared the news of our holidays while we passed a ball of wool to another classmate and when we had all finished it looked like a large spider web. This is just a picture of how we are held together by 'heartstrings' in Room 5!
Welcome to Room 5 - Day 1It is our first day
It was our first day in Room 5 and we were amazing at finding our classroom and settling into the new routines. We chose our own seats and also unpacked all our stationery. After placing our labels on the books, we placed them where they need to be. Here we are doing some writing and holding up frames of ourselves.
