Monarch Caterpillar Update

Hooray! We have a chrysalis! One of our monarch caterpillars have changed into a beautiful, bright green chrysalis and in two weeks we hope to see a butterfly emerge!

Our Wonderful Class

We are a busy bunch and our first two weeks of learning have been wonderful! Everyone has a special job to do and we have learned most of the routines. Our classroom is beginning to reflect our learning and we are making more friends as we mix with each other. Here are pictures of our classroom.

Necci, our Nectarine Tree

We have a wonderful view of the Hive from our classroom and one of the special trees we look out on to is a nectarine tree. We have named it Necci and we're going to enjoy it change over the seasons. When we went to have a closer look at it, Necci had some ripe, plump nectarines on its branches. We picked three of the fruit and We cut them into slices and enjoyed tasting the sweet, juicy fruit.

Our Classroom Caterpillars

We have a swan plant just outside our classroom and it is fascinating to watch the caterpillars that are on the plant.  They grow at an alarming rate - each day they are bigger!

Our Paper Bag Presentations

We have been so brave sitting up in front of our friends, unpacking the special items we have brought from home. All the children have enjoyed finding out why we chose the photos and other wonderful things we brought. Thanks so much, everyone, for participating so well!!

Our First Day in Room 5

We had a lovely first day today! Everyone enjoyed getting back to school after a long holiday and meeting up with their friends from last year's class. They also enjoyed getting acquainted with some new names and faces!

One of our first activities was our sharing spider web activity. We told our classmates a little bit about our holidays.

Welcome to our New Class of 2019

I am excited to be your Year 2 teacher this year! Learning is an exciting adventure and we will be having lots of fun discovering and growing together. Our school wide focus is on CHANGES so we shall be looking at different ways the world keeps changing. In the process we will learn how to cope with changes and we are also sure to become great scientists and change makers!

Year 2 is a lot like being in Year 1 with many special things to do. We will be adding spelling to our homework tasks and doing online Mathletics activities.

I hope you will enjoy making new friends and will love discovering, growing and learning as we journey through the year. I want you to feel happy and safe at school. Please always know that I am always there to help.
