Sadly, all good things do need to come to an end and it is with a heavy heart that I type this last post of the year. THANK YOU to everyone in Room 5 for making this such a marvellous, happy and special year. Children, you have been totally amazing - you have cared, shared, laughed and played so well together. You have all worked hard and have challenged yourselves to do your best. Teacher aides and parents, you have done so much to make so many things possible and your encouragement and enthusiasm, your untiring efforts and constant help has been greatly appreciated!! Do have a wonderful, memorable festive season and a very relaxing holiday break.
We were so spoiled by Mrs Naicker who made the most beautiful Christmas decorations for us!
Our incredible Mrs Cole and Miss Smith enjoyed receiving our special thank you notes.
Blake and his A Team (Louie, Jake and Iven) spent lunch times building this Lego passenger train. They then demonstrated the final product and we were enthralled.

Fun at Jake's Place!
Many of us 'soaked' up a wonderous evening of Christmas delights at Jake's beautifully decorated home! Every year Jake's selfless, industrious family spend weeks and weeks setting up the most intricate and eye catching Christmas Light display both indoors and out. They are inundated with bypassers who come to admire the splendid decorations and flashing lights. There are also countless visitors who arrive on foot to enjoy the snow making machine, to listen to the music, to meet with Santa and to receive a lollie or two! Jake's family are happy to accept gold coin donations which go to charity. The families in Room 5 arranged to meet at 8:30pm at his house, since by then the sun would have set. It was every bit as magical as we expected and Mrs Cole and Mrs Shewring also handed out some lemon ice blocks. A very special evening of good spirits and fun was enjoyed by one and all!

Our Buddy Class Electives
We went to see the amazing work on display in the hall today. Our buddy class and all the children in Year 5 and 6 have been very hard at work doing their inquiry learning on chosen topics. They sourced all the information themselves and then set about sharing it. Many children made the most elaborate models and visual presentations - we were fascinated! Our buddies showed us their work and then we wandered around together taking in as many of the exhibits as we could.
Raising Money for Water
We have been mindful that there are many children in the world who do not have the privilege of having fresh, clean water on tap wherever they go, like we do. In many of the Pacific Islands, children do not have water in their homes. Many children have to go to central places to fill up their containers of water.
We decided to raise money to send to UNICEF so that they could provide even more opportunities to make water available. Thanks to all our wonderful children for bringing coins to place on a raindrop. We put these out in the hall and all together we have raised $300!

Funtime Lunchtime!
It's so exciting having our playground areas transformed by little market stalls. various fun activities and swarms of children when this special event comes around. The Year six children plan and organise all the different games in order to raise funds for our school. They set everything up and run everything themselves. We all enjoyed doing some of the games that awarded us with prizes or participated in the activities that showed off our skills. There were ice blocks and other treats for sale and many of us were keen to have our faces painted.

Our Junior Cross-Country
Yay! It was a perfect day for our cross-country races - the sun was warm and bright, we were fit and ready and the parents had come along to cheer us as we ran. Our class all participated with great enthusiasm and energy and even though it was such a long course, they persevered and did their best. We were very proud of Daemon for taking first place in the Year 2 Boys race. Ka Pai, Daemon!
