The Lunar New Year

It was a mufti day today - a fundraiser for the forthcoming Twilight Market but it coincides with the Lunar New Year as well. This week we have been finding out about the traditions our Chinese and Korean children enjoy as they celebrate the start of the New Year. This is the Year of the Dog and it we discovered that the celebrations will take place over fifteen days. There will be lots of good food, decorations, lanterns, money pockets, firecrackers, dragon dances, festivals and parades!! A very Happy New Year!

As part of our studies, we made these red lanterns and we learnt to write the symbols for numbers one to five.
