At last, it was our turn to go on the bus to visit Mangere Mountain! Some children weren't sure what it was going to be like there because they had never visited an extinct volcano before. Most of us expected the mountain to be huge and like a massive cone but instead it wasn't too tall and it had a very wide open crater that looked like the inside of a green monster's open mouth.
Once we arrived at the mountain, we were greeted by two lovely Maori ladies called Marcia and Ellie. They invited us to sit in a large hall and they started the day off with some welcomes and Daniel stood up and shared his mihi. Shortly after morning tea we were ready to take a walk up the mountain to discover more about how the Maori lived in this area many, many years ago.
