Stepping Out with Constable Ian

When Constable Ian came to talk with us about being safe pedestrians, he reminded us that we need to be extra, extra, extra careful near busy roads. He taught us to look out for vehicles backing out of sneaky driveways and to be vigilant when cars are reversing. Even with all the cameras and extra devices many vehicles have, children can be hard to spot when they suddenly decide to run.

Constable Ian taught us a simple song which we should remember when crossing a road. It went like this - "Stop, Look and Listen before you cross the street... Use your eyes, use your ears before you use your feet."

We had Sophie and Sarge, two of our wonderful road patrol students, accompany us to the crossing so that we could practice listening to them giving us instructions at the crossing. Constable Ian remarked that Point View is the only school in the area that has a traffic light to help the children cross.

Thank you to Constable Ian for spending this time with us and we promise to always cross safely at pedestrian crossings and not in other parts of the road.
