Kyle and John performed their special dance in assembly and we all enjoyed watching them in action. They wore such eye-catching costumes and we loved the wigs worn by all the boys. Well done, boys - you worked so very hard over many weeks to learn all the dance moves and were very brave to perform on stage at Elim school as well as in assembly. Congratulations on your sterling performances. We are very proud of you!

Mitchell's Surprise Visit!!!
What a wonderful treat we had this morning! Mitchell and his dad and brother, Jesse, arrived before school started to say "Hello"!! He is looking so tall and is very happy at his new school in Wellington. Mitchell helped with calling the role and then he went down to watch our whole school assembly with his dad and brother. It was just soooooo good seeing him - we still miss him very much and often talk about him.
Many thanks, Mitchell, Jesse and Mitchell's dad, for spoiling us and making our day today!! We hope you'll visit us again when you next come up to Auckland!!

Our Poetry Finalists
Ka pai and well done to everyone for having worked so hard on learning and reciting their chosen poems in the past few weeks. We enjoyed reciting our poems to our buddy class and then we needed to choose four semi finalists.
Once we had narrowed the choice down to four children (Lachlan, John, Sophia and Ellie), they returned to our buddy class and delivered their poems with Room 21 as the audience.
The finalists have now been chosen! Congratulations to Ellie and John - we look forward to seeing you perform next Tuesday morning!

An Interview with Mrs Fisher
As part of our study on the Jobs people do, we invited Mrs Fisher to our class. Some children from Room 5 and Room 6 had thought of questions to ask her about her job. She told us that she did all the finances - counting up money, checking that the teachers get paid and writing receipts for the money that parents paid. She starts work at 7:00am and usually finished at 4:30pm. She enjoys working with the children and they make her so happy when they stop to have a chat. Mrs Fisher has worked at our school for almost 21 years!! She told us that she saw the school being built.
Cadon asked her what she did in her job. Sophia asked what she found easy and what she found hard in her work. Chloe wanted to know what skills she needed to have to do her job. Alina asked what things she used to help her when she worked and lastly Kyle asked what the best part of her job was.

There was a boy and his name was Cody and he was five years oid. it was snowing and he decided to make a snowman with his dog, Jack. They rolled one small pile of snow and a big one too. Then he stacked the snowman and he and decorated him too. The next morning a reindeer ran into the snowman and he went fiying into the sky. Cody’s dog came out and the snowman landed on him. Cody came to see what happened and his poor dog was frozen like a statue!!!
10/08 Alina The Snowman
There was a girl called Sally who was ten years old and she had a dog called Stray. She built a snowman and then in the morning the snowman was gone. Sally thought that maybe her dog Stray did it. She asked him “Did you take the snowman away?” Stray said “yes” and he went to get the snowman’s hat and scarf. They were in his basket and he took them to keep warm.

John 10/08 The snowman
There was a boy named Cody and he was twelve years old and he built a snowman in his back garden where there were three moose. One of them kept looking at his snowman when he went inside. A little later Cody heard a sound and he looked out of the window for a minute. He didn’t see anything but then he glanced again and a moose was running around with a scarf on his back and a hat on one of his horns. There were some sticks stuck on the hat and he had a carrot in his mouth. Then Cody called his mum and his mum said wow!! She took a photo and sent it to the news. That night they saw it on the news and Cody was famous. Then Cody named his moose “Snowman Mooseee”.

Once upon a time there was a boy called Jake. He built a cute little snowman that he was very proud of. The snowman had a little scarf and two little green buttons and had a carrot for a nose. One day the snowman was broken!! Jack was very sad but he had an idea. He called his sister to help him build the snowman step by step. Then they another idea, they got a bucket and put snow and the snowman in it and put it in the freezer. The snowman then lived happily ever after.

Mr Kirkham Reads us a Story
Mr Kirkham accepted our invitation to visit our class and we enjoyed having him with us. In our letters to him some of the children had requested that he read a story and some had hoped he would involve us in drama. In the end he decided on reading the book he had received from the school as a welcome present. It was entitled The Bear Who Went Boo! and it was a delightful story. Thank you, Mr Kirkham.
