STEM Sewing Challenge

Mr Rankin taught us some new skills today. At first we found them quite challenging but with a little practice we got better at doing them. The first two challenges were to thread a shoe with a shoelace and then to tie the shoelace. It was hard to get the laces exactly the same like they are in a show! After much trial and error we managed to get the threading bit done. Then on to learning how to tie the lace. Our fingers had to work hard to make loops and to tie knots! Whew! Next was our third challenge and that was how to thread a needle and to use the thread to sew. We needed to push our needle into the holes on some material and then to put the thread through. Each time we would go in and out of the holes with our needle and thread. Some of us managed to sew lots of rows with stitches. Mr Rankin sewed another piece of material onto our sewing piece and turned it into a bookmark! We are very proud of our achievements!
