Science Experiments

Many of us had seen the Skittles experiment but had not had the opportunity to question the speed at which the colour of the Skittles would dissolve. Firstly we used tap water to admire the beautiful patterns being formed and we noted the speed at which this took place. Then we used warm water with the next lot of Skittles. They dissolved at a noticeably faster rate. We decided to do a second experiment using a glass with hot water and one with water at room temperature. We placed a red coloured block of ice into each glass (these ice blocks had been frozen in a muffin container). The ice block within hot water dissolved much sooner than the one in water at room temperature, just as we had predicted!
