Science in a Van Show

Emily and Alan certainly provided us with such a spectacular science show today. Alan made the most amazing bubbles (some with smaller bubbles inside them)using a large wand. He also had a machine that made balloons with helium inside them and they rose right up to touch the hall ceiling. Emily showed us a number of experiments. She made bubble mixture out of water and dishwashing liquid and she used oil and coloured water to show us how oil and water seperate. The next two mixtures she made were with baking soda, vinegar and water. One had vinegar and water in a bottle and there was a balloon filled with baking soda that was pulled around the neck of the bottle. When Emily shook the baking soda from the balloon into the bottle it made a gas and that made the balloon inflate! WOW!!! We were fascinated and really excited about learning about the power of science!
